Ann Curry
Ann Curry is an American photographer and journalist who has worked as a journalist for over 45 years focused on human suffering in areas of conflict and natural disasters. Curry covered wars in Kosovo, Iraq Syria Lebanon Palestine Afghanistan Darfur Congo. Ann Curry, (born November 19th 1956 in Agana American journalist and television anchor and news reporter who was best known for her work as a reporter for the Today show a morning news program broadcast by the National Broadcasting Co. (NBC). Curry is famous for reporting humanitarian crises and natural disasters and natural disasters, particularly in countries who have been ravaged by conflict. Curry's father was a naval officer within the U.S. Navy and her mother was Japanese. She met her mother while being with her dad in Japan following World War II. In the wake of her father's army duty, the family frequently moved. They ultimately relocated to Ashland Oregon where Curry attended high school. In 1978 she graduated at her school at the University of Oregon with a bachelor's degree in journalism. It's likely that her early experiences with different cultures as well as her life experiences has influenced her empathetic approach to how she addresses international problems. Curry did not enroll in a school for over a period of more than two years, as her family moved often. She went to schools in California, the state of Oregon in San Diego as well as Virginia. Curry graduated at the age of 22 from Ashland high school. As an intern at KTVL Channel 10 Medford, Oregon, she laid the groundwork for an extensive and profitable broadcasting career. She was the first female reporter on the history of the station at 22. She subsequently moved to the role of anchor and reporter for KGW an NBC affiliate located in Portland, Oregan. In Los Angeles, she became reporter at KCBS TV four years after moving to the city. In her time with the station, she was awarded the award of two Emmy Awards.
